Being a mortgage broker is a big responsibility, but we’re here to support you every step of the way, from being a student to becoming a licensed member of our association. In Alberta, mortgage brokers are regulated by the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA). You must meet RECA’s eligibility requirements to take your mortgage broker pre-licensing courses.
Once you’ve met the eligibility requirements, you are ready to get started in your pre-licensing courses! There are two course requirements to becoming a licensed mortgage broker: Fundamentals of Mortgage Brokerage and Practice of Mortgage Brokerage. You must complete the Fundamentals course in order to be eligible for the Practice course. Each course requires successfully passing a final exam (AMBA) and a pre-licensing exam (RECA).
