This course is designed for licensed Alberta mortgage brokers who are renewing their license through RECA.
You’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of how private lending works, including lender types, deal structures, and funding sources. The course also covers key regulatory requirements.
You’ll learn how to assess borrower suitability and lender risk, develop effective exit strategies, and identify common red flags to help prevent fraud and protect all parties involved in a private lending transaction.
Private lending is a high-risk area that demands strong compliance, ethical practices, and risk management. RECA now requires this course as part of the 2025 relicensing process. If you are licensed in Alberta, you must complete AMBA’s Mortgage Broker Private Lending 2025 Relicensing Course to meet your relicensing requirements. This is the designated course for Alberta licensees.
You’ll have 4 months of access from the day you register. If you need more time, a one-time 2-month extension is available for $75 + GST.
The course is fully online and self-paced. You can work through it on your own schedule using our interactive learning platform.
Each module includes knowledge checks and a module test. A minimum score of 70% is required to pass each test.
Because this course is mandatory for relicensing, it does not qualify for additional CEUs.
